Welcome to Anna's Fundraising Page!
Within days of finding my lump in Fall 2020, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Less than 24 hours later, I underwent more tests to help my Care Team determine the best course of action. Ten days later, my treatment began. It was a whirlwind, but one that helped save my life.
I have immense gratitude for Dr. Randy W. Cooper and the Center for Breast Health Services at University Hospital. Throughout my treatment, I heard/read stories from so many women (across the country) whose breast health concerns weren't taken seriously by their doctors. They had to wait weeks--sometimes months--for consultations and tests. Not so at UH's Center for Breast Health. Test results are shared within 24 hours--even if that means calling patients after hours or over the weekend. (True story.)
I realize that health insurance also plays a crucial role in the care I received. The Miracle Mile Walk supports University Hospital’s Randy W. Cooper, M.D., Center for Breast Health Services and Mobile Mammography Unit, which provide life-saving screenings to women in the Augusta area, regardless of their ability to pay. No woman is ever turned away from the mobile unit!
On behalf of University Health Care Foundation, and the patients whose lives are saved (including my own!), thank you for your partnership. Whether you decide to join my team (It's free!) or donate to the cause, know that your support has the potential to make a widespread impact.
